545 industrial units set up by non-state subjects in JK - GovtAmid controversy over new industrial policy in Jammu and Kashmir, the government in a startling revelation on Monday said 545 industrial units have been established in the state including 47 in Kashmir by non-state subjects. This was stated in a written reply by the government to a query by MLC Ajatshatru Singh during the ongoing budget session in the Legislative Council.
Singh had sought information about the number of industrial units set up by outsiders in the state.The government in its reply said that 545 industrial units including 47 in Kashmir division were established in the State by the outsiders.

Giving break-up, the minister for industries and commerce said 32,387 units including 545 by outsiders and 31,842 by state subjects have been setup in the state.
As per the figures 12,380 units including 11,882 by state subjects and 498 by outsiders are in Jammu region while as 20,007 units including 19,960 by locals and 47 by non-state subjects are in Kashmir region.
The government said various incentives are being provided by the Central and State governments to promote local entrepreneurs for setting up their industrial units as per the State Industrial Policy 2016 announced vide government order number 58-IND of 2016.

The government said several measures have been taken for easing out the procedures to create industry friendly environment for entrepreneurs in the state.
Under the policy the government has delegated powers to general managers of district industries centres and has set up industrial grievances forum for speedy disposal of grievances.
“Mechanism for time bound disposal of application has been set up and entrepreneurs will be given time bound NOCs from Power Development Department and State Pollution Control Board,” reads the reply.
